  • STEP 4 Key in the SMS OTP and you are all set to receive funds via PayNow.

Type of Transfers

Citibank Online offers different types of funds transfers to cater to your needs.

Before you begin to transfer funds to a beneficiary for the first time, you will need to add the beneficiary as a Payee. Subsequent transfers to this beneficiary will then be an easy 3 step process. See the section on online guides on how to add payee.

Funds Transfers Within Singapore

  • FAST (Fast And Secure Transfers) is a mode of domestic funds transfer service that allows customers to pay anyone in Singapore, almost instantly.
  • You may also consider transferring your funds using GIRO which will take about 2 to 3 working days to be effected with no charges involved.
  • Paying bills can be hassle-free. With over 120 billing organizations available, you can now pay your utilities bills, telecommunication bills, taxes and memberships fees easily via Citibank Online. That's not all, you can also use your Citibank Credit Card to pay over 100 selected billing organizations.

Funds Transfers Outside of Singapore

  • Inward Remittance
    • For inward remittance, please refer to the Inward Remittance Instructions Factsheet.
    • For inward remittance, to ensure that the amount received at Citibank is your intended amount, please inform remitting bank to "Pay the Beneficiary in full"
  • Outward Remittance
    • Transfer your funds to Banks overseas at a low cost flat fee and no commissions, exclusively on Citibank Online & Citi Mobile. What's more, you will be able to view competitive foreign exchange rates online before confirming a transaction.
  • Citibank Global Transfers is an online funds transfer service that allows you to transfer funds from your Citibank Checking, Savings or Ready Credit account to another Citibank account abroad instantly via Citibank Online.

INTRODUCING FAST

FAST (Fast And Secure Transfers) is a new mode of electronic funds transfer that allows you to transfer funds to instantly between banking accounts in Singapore of participating banks. The FAST transfer option is available both on Citibank Online and Citi Mobile.

  3. Can I use FAST to transfer funds to a bank account overseas?

    No, FAST can only be used for SGD fund transfers between bank accounts of participating banks in Singapore.

  7. Is FAST available 24/7?

    Yes, FAST is available 24/7. In some cases, our officers may contact you to request for more information as part of our security reviews.

  1. What are the details needed to perform a FAST transfer?

    Login to Citibank Online and add a payee under the "Electronic Transfers (GIRO/FAST)". Enter the relevant payee details such as the bank code, branch code, and the account number. Please note that you will need an Online Security Device in order to add a payee.

  2. Do I have to add another payee specifically for FAST transfers? I have already added this payee for GIRO/MEPS transfers.

    If you have previously added a payee for GIRO transfers, you do not need to add a payee again.

  3. How do I perform a transfer?

    1. Add a payee under the GIRO /FAST option. You will need the relevant payee details such as

      • Bank code
      • Branch code
      • Account number
    2. Activate the payee using your Online Security Device
    3. Select the "Transfer via FAST" option when making a Payment/Transfer.
  4. Do I have to sign up for Citibank Online?

    Yes, you will have to register for a Single User ID and Password via Citibank Online or Citi Mobile before being able to perform FAST transfers. You will also need an Online Security Device to add a FAST payee.

  5. Are there limits to the amount I can transfer?

    The minimum transaction limit is S$1.

    There is a transaction limit of S$10,000. Please note that a daily accumulated limit of S$100,000 applies.

  6. Will I get a notification when I perform a FAST transfer?

    Yes, you will receive a Citi Alert via email or SMS depending on your Citi Alert subscription settings.

  7. Will I get a notification when I receive funds via FAST?

    You will have to enroll for the "Account Credit via Giro/Interbank Transfer" Citi Alert to receive notifications.

  8. Is transaction signing required for FAST transfers?

    Transaction signing is required when adding a payee on Citibank Online. Subsequent FAST transfers will not require transaction signing.

  9. Can I schedule a regular FAST transfer to be performed?

    Future-dated and recurring FAST transfers are not supported.

  10. Why do I need to pay for FAST when I can perform transfers for free via GIRO?

    FAST is an effective solution for customers who are looking to transfer funds quickly. You can still continue to use GIRO transfers for non-urgent funds transfers.

  1. How do I add payee using Citi Mobile?

    Citi Mobile does not support this feature. Please login to Citibank Online using a desktop computer for adding of payees.

  2. Is FAST available for Inbound Funds Transfers?

    This feature is currently not supported.

  3. Is FAST available for overseas fund transfers?

    No, FAST can only be used for SGD fund transfers between bank accounts of participating banks in Singapore.

  4. I understand that other banks don't require their customers to add payees for transactions lower than S$100. Does Citibank offer this feature?

    Citibank does not offer this feature.

  5. Can I use FAST to pay my bills?

    Citibank does not have this feature at this point in time. You can still continue to pay your bills using the "Pay billing organisations" service on Citibank Online and Citi Mobile.

PayNow FAQs

PayNow is a new funds transfer service that allows customers of participating banks to send and receive Singapore Dollar funds almost instantly from one participating bank to another using just their mobile number or Singapore NRIC/FIN.

Yes, PayNow is secure and adopts the same high security standards established by the banking industry in Singapore for other funds transfer services such as FAST and Interbank GIRO.

PayNow transaction limits are at a minimum of S$1 and a maximum of S$1,000 in a day.

No, you may transfer funds with PayNow only between participating banks. You may transfer funds between a participating and non-participating bank through other channels such as FAST or Interbank GIRO.

No. PayNow can only be used for SGD fund transfers between bank accounts of participating banks in Singapore. For foreign currency or overseas transfers, please choose Telegraphic Transfers or Citi Global Fund Transfers instead.

The status of your funds transfer will be reflected on your confirmation page and you may also check your transaction history on Citibank Online or Citi Mobile® App. You should also receive Citi Alerts for fund transfers (subject to the transaction value threshold that you have set) via email or SMS.

PayNow transfers are free. There are also no charges for linking your mobile number or NRIC/FIN to your Citi account.

Inform us immediately via Citibank Online so we can attempt to help you recover the funds to the best of our ability.

Note that funds transferred to an unintended recipient may or may not be recovered. The return of such funds is at the discretion of the recipient bank and subject to the consent of the recipient. If you have updated your mobile number with the bank, you will need to link your preferred Citi account again. Your old mobile number that was previously linked to receive funds via PayNow will be automatically unlinked in 7 working days from the time of update. You should instruct each party from whom you are expecting to receive funds through PayNow to transfer funds to your updated mobile number once it has been linked to your Citi account.

If you intend to only send funds via PayNow, you do not need to link your mobile number or NRIC/FIN. However, if you would like to also receive funds via PayNow using your mobile number or NRIC/FIN, you would need to link your mobile number or NRIC/FIN to your Citi account.

If you have received money and do not know where it came from, you should contact us immediately. You should not utilise the money.

If we have been informed that someone else is trying to link the same mobile number or NRIC/FIN to an account with another bank, we will attempt to contact you within 3 business days to verify your mobile number or NRIC/FIN.
